Biography

Ehsan Jahani studied architecture in the United Kingdom and North Cyprus. He has more than 16 years of experience academically and professionally. He is the winner of the UN-HABITAT Human Settlements award, and won an international design competition in London, UK. Ehsan is a registered architect with the Ontario Association of Architects (OAA), and holds a Building Code Identification Number (BCIN) from the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing (MMAH).

In addition to experience working in building departments at government institutions, Ehsan worked over some significant buildings in Canada. This includes crosstown development in downtown Toronto, design of the most extensive construction of 700 residential units in three high-rise buildings in Hamilton, digital representation of the Ryerson Art Centre at Ryerson University, and many other large and small projects across Ontario.

Ehsan’s expertise is in the Ontario Building Code and digital representation of architecture projects, and this strength enables him to share his experiences with students as a professor. Ehsan passionately enjoys teaching architectural and interior design subjects. He recently developed and prepared a new method and study package to train for the BCIN exam. His method is unique in its own nature and has received plenty of appreciation by his students and mentees.

Ehsan volunteers as co-chair of the Becoming Architects Canada/Deveiner architecture Canada (BAC-DAC) committee, a national group that advocates the architecture profession in Canada). Additionally, Ehsan has many mentees from the York Region School Board and JVS Toronto, where he has received certificate of appreciation for his outstanding contributions to mentoring and coaching.

I come from a family with an architectural and construction background, where I learned many details about this profession. Buildings and cultures around the world have always attracted me. I have visited over 30 countries with different cultures and architecture, and had a chance through my networks to teach my experiences of culture and architecture in more than six universities around the world. The feeling of experiencing is not comparable to any other method of learning, and I am happy that I personally can transfer my experiences in a very concise and straightforward way to my students in the classroom.
